Patricia S. Fernandez is of counsel to Atwood & Cherny, PC. Prior to joining the firm, she was the managing partner at Fernandez, Socci & Nieves and Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates, which began in 1996. A graduate of Yale Law School, Attorney Fernandez has concentrated her practice in domestic relations since 1986. She was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1986 and in New Hampshire in 2016.
Pat employs her extensive experience to craft intelligent solutions to clients’ problems and to guide clients towards realistic goals. While aiming to resolve matters in the manner most cost-efficient and beneficial to her clients, Attorney Fernandez has ample trial experience on which to draw, should it become necessary. She has conducted numerous trials (one as long as 15 days) in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts. Throughout her career, Ms. Fernandez has taken on a wide range of roles. She has been certified as an arbitrator through the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She has been appointed as a guardian ad litem, trustee, conciliator, receiver and discovery master in various family law cases. She is a Certified Financial Litigator through the American Academy of Certified Financial Litigators. Attorney Fernandez has consistently appeared in “Best Lawyers in America” since 2006 and has been named a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer” every year since 2005. She has lectured extensively to her peers on many family law issues through various continuing legal education entities. Attorney Fernandez volunteers as a conciliator for the Essex County Bar Association Conciliation Program. She served as a hearing committee member for the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers from 2010 to 2015, an organization that deals with issues related to professional misconduct. She has also served in leadership roles in the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Massachusetts Family & Probate American Inns of Court, Massachusetts Bar Association and the Lawrence Bar Association. |
